I was very happy to see all these perfect donuts of woundwood forming around subordination cuts I’ve made in years past. I pay constant attention to old pruning cuts and I’ve found that very precise cut angles and locations are required to reliably achieve this result. Too much angle or not enough results in a wound that’s harder for the tree to seal over properly. Sprouting which you can see has occurred around these cuts is actually very beneficial for preventing dieback and helping to seal the wounds.
